saying goodbye to 2009

Today is December 31st, 2009.In another 15 hours we will ursher in a new year 2010. So what does end of the year means to most people? Some will continue their end of the year shopping,no doubt. Many more will hang around in various places to count down and greet the new year. Christains will congregated in churches for their watch night service and welcome the new year.Hopefully things will be more promising than this year.
Some people will make resolutions for the new year. I have stop making them, since it is pointless to made them if I are not able to keep them.
Looking back even though 2009 has not been that great, but it has not been that bad either. The worst thing I faced was I had to retired .I will count my blessing instead and think of the wonderful things. I think the best thing I can say was straint relationship was restored with someone dear. I manage to suggest a friendship between to unlikely individual. I wished their new found friendship will continue to grow. Even though I had retired from work, but I still received calls from my previous office mates seeking advice.I put up with them for a while until yesterday, I had to put my foot down and told them politely I had retired and therefore it was not right for me to be giving them advice from now on. Sure it might sound abit cruel, and selfish on my part, but that is the only way they can be independent.I think I jogged more this year that ever, and certainly spent more time with my beloved god daughter in 2009.
Lastly I want to say life is good and I am grateful for friends, family and those I loved and are dear to my heart.
Happy New year 2010 and God's rich blessing be upon you.

HIGHLAND, HIGHLAND

Just returned from a most wonderful church camp at Cameron Highland. was there from 11th dec till 13th december, 2009. I can't remember when was the last time I have been there. It must have been at least more than 15 years. I packed most of my clothing but left out the most Essential item, a sweater. It was very cold at night out there and in the hall ,when they have to put on the air conditioner during the service. I tried to bare it ,but could not take it any longer and went to a nearby shop the next day to get a sweater. cost me RM29.00, which was quite expensive. We stayed at the equitorial hotel, which was the same hotel I stayed when I was here many many years ago.
This was the most relax camp I ever been, only two service one after breakfast and the other one after dinner, so leaving the afternoon free for the campers to go around. Since I was depending another friend's transport and he was only able to
leave on the second day of the camp, I have to missed the first day. when we arrived, I was informed my two room mates had to leave early ,so I got the whole room all to myself. I tried to jog the next morning, I found that I could not run for very long due to the cold weather. My hands was cold and I had to return to the hotel after a short distant.I did try out the gym,but most of the equipment was not in working condition,so gave up about the whole idea of working out at the gym. Sunday came by quickly and it was time to pack up and head for home. On our way back we stopped by two tea plantations, a bee farm and a orchid farm. Reached home around 7.30pm.
Here are some of the photos from this memorable trip.

Cherokee Legend

An interesting article which I received in the mail.I had read this before and would like to share this and hope you will be encouraged.

Do you know the legend of the Cherokee Indian youth's rite of Passage?

His father takes him into the forest, blindfolds him an leaves him alone. He is required to sit on a stump the whole night and not remove the blindfold until the rays of the morning sun shine through it. He cannot cry out for help to anyone.

Once he survives the night, he is a MAN.

He cannot tell the other boys of this experience, because each lad must come into manhood on his own.

The boy is naturally terrified. He can hear all kinds of noises. Wild beasts must surely be all around him . Maybe even some human might do him
harm. The wind blew the grass and earth, and shook his stump, but he satstoically, never removing the blindfold. It would be the only way he could become a man!
Finally, after a horrific night the sun appeared and he removed his blindfold.

It was then that he discovered his father sitting on the stump next to him.
He had been at watch the entire night, protecting his son from harm.

We, too, are never alone.
Even when we don't know it, God is watching over us, Sitting on the stump beside us.
When trouble comes, all we have to do is reach out to Him.

Moral of the story:
Just because you can't see God,
Doesn't mean He is not there.
"For we walk by faith, not by sight."

GOT ME A NEW TOY

I was on the way this morning to pick up my precious(宝贝 )from her office at Aeon shopping center for breakfast ,when I received a call from my wife asking where had I left her car key. I dug into my pocket, oops it was her car key. I had used her car the previous night for movie and forgot to leave the car key on the table for her.Funny I remember puting her other stuff like her Id card and driving licence, but forgot all about the car key.So I have to make a quick trip back home to hand over her car key, and drove back to Aeon shopping center again to pick up my sweetheart. We had breakfast at Mr Kaya,Bukit Tinggi which just open recently. The service was poor and the food was a disappointment as well. After our breakfast we deceide to shop around for my new toy. Went to a couple of shop and tested out a few brands, before we decided on the olympus E500. What beauty. It's been ages since I held a SLR camera. The first SLRI had was about 28 years ago which I bought with the extra ang pow money received from friends for our wedding . I was a yashica FX3. Everything is new to me. I need to practice to get use to this new baby. At least now I had something to keep me occupied. Got to go now and click away.

NEW ZEALAND ICE CREAM.

Last evening had a good run at the park with my god daughter, snow. Though the sky was gloomy, it did not rain. We did not take the normal route ,which involve some terrain as she complained of some pain on her foot. so we took the outter path which was much easier.
After we had done our run, we went back for our shower and met latter at vivo pizza at Jusco,Bukit tinggi to have our dinner. we had seafood pizza, which was a wrong choice as I did not like it at all. As usual I just enjoyed talking to my girl.
The highlight of the evening was new zealand natural icecream. since it was the 30th of the month there was a 30 per cent off on the ice cream. so we headed to the shop which was located on the 2nd floor ,near the cineplex. There was already a long queue. We had to wait for 45 miniutes or so before we were served. I ordered a large tub of Macadamia and Choc Fudge Brownie, while my daughter had Berryfruit Sorbet and three other favours ,all sorbet.
Since they only allow to mix two flavour per order, she ordered two small tubs. She just wants sorbet and nothing else. For more on sorbets
refer here.
She just dont like anything with milk as mention in my earlier entry here. As for me I still prefer my icecream with milk. The last time I a really nice ice cream was in August, at Hagen Daz.
I have tried most brand but like New zealand much better, I might just join their club. Right now I just want to enjoy my NZ ice cream. More review of the New Zealand natural brand read here.

ON THE DENTIST CHAIR (AGAIN)

Everytime I go to the dentist it sent the shiver down my spine.

Yesterday's visit was no different. I had an appointment to replace the bridge which I did a month ago. Dental bridges are false teeth, which are anchored onto neighbouring teeth in order to replace one or more missing teeth. The false tooth is known as a pontic and is fused in between two crowns that serve as anchors by attaching to the teeth on each side of the false tooth, thereby bridging them together.. for more about bridge read here. My last visit was months ago when I went for scaling, which is less painful but nevertheless still give me the phobia. To be fair, Dr Geetha does makes me less nervous or fearful. Anyway I thought that was to be my last visit ,and I will leave with a new set of teeth. Boy was I wrong.I had a tooth removed during my last visit as it was shaky and thus will not secure the bridge.Since the mould could not taken immediately I had to wait for the gum to return to normal . So yesterday's visit was just to make a mould. In order to do that ,the dentist had to remove the Temporary bridge and to do that she will numb the area with a mild anaesthetic. That means more jabs and I hate needles! Today had to go to the clinic again as the temporary bridge was acting weird and changed color due to what I drank(according to the doctor) it was greenish, (I did drank something greenish) the day before it was yellowish.(I sure dont remember having anything with that color) Anyway she polish them and they are good as real teeth. She assured me the new and final version would not have this problem due to the material used.It will be make of porcelain.what? china in my mouth? what will they think of next?? Anyway guess what was the damage? RM2800.00 after discount. Let's hope so, or else I am going to make some fuss at the clinic.
My next appointment will be on dec 14th. Oh no,I have to endure another unwanted experience on the dentist chair! Hope I will survive.

JOGGING AT THE PARK

Since my last incident I have stoped jogging at the park. But last week my god daugther, snow invited me to join her, I need not wait for a second invitation. Of course I gladly joined her and have been running ever since.I am glad she had me in mind everytime she wants to go jogging.Of course the best part is after jogging where we can have a meal together and chat a bit. On Sunday my son Joel deceided to join us but half way, ran out of steam, so he ask us to go ahead and he will catch up. After a long while there was still no sign of him. so we deceide to double back and look for him,but he was no where to be found. Panic ! could he be lost? After going in circles, he finally showed up at the place where people does their Aerobics routine. We went back to take a quick shower and later met up at old town kopitiam for our breakfast. It's been quite a while since I had a chance to have a meal with Joel.and even a longer while with both of them together. Coming back to my jogging, usually I manage to stay on course with my daughter, who was also my one time personal trainer. But today, I felt quite difficult to catch up with her. I know she is so fit and keeping up with her really takes some effort. But sometimes I am worried for this girl; she tends to overdo things . knowing her she will probably work out again when she goes back to the gym. Anyway I had a pain on my right side of my Abdomen, so I could not continue running. Had to stop and walk .so I told my girl to go ahead and I will meet her at the base at our usual meeting place. After awhile I could continue running slowly until I reached the base at our meeting point. Hope it is just hunger prangs.
I did not have dinner and was craving for some western, but since she had to rush to the gym for an appointement with a client, have to take a rain check. will wait for her call.so it's bread again. sigh...I hate to eat alone ,so bread will do fine if I must eat alone..

having our breakfast at old town kopitiam, bt tinggi, klang

REFLECTIONS

It's almost year end, less than a month and a half and it will soon be another new year. Time to take stock. what had happened the past few months? One thing I still could not get over is the fact I haved retired .How have this new life style affected me? To be truthful I dont really enjoyed my retired life. sure I have take a short holiday and have less stress ,but I am worried sick, how will I provide for my family, and to sustain my expenses etc. My retirement fund is fast dwindling. I have not been sucessful in getting another job.Let's hope next year will be more promising.
As the title of my blog suggest , I have been searching for that something in my life.I dont think I have found everything I have been searching for but to some extend I have found something .Let's look at some of the things I have discovered.
Friends? I think I have quite a few good ones, from the previous gym I went to.Anne,Irene, clarence, and cindy. Anne is one friend who will not hesitate to meet up with me to have lunch, dinner whenever I called. She have yet to turn me down yet.Irene , of course have joined me on numerous outdoors activities And of course my outdoor buddies. They are just great..Last but not least cindy, for being such a good listener(I think from day one)and time spent together. Thanks dear for putting up with this silly old man. I Do appreciated it.Another friend I would like to mention is Bowgy from Thailand. I was rather surprised when she agreed to meet up when I suggested to her I wanted to visit Bangkok. I had another friend also from Thailand who had earlier indicated she wanted to meet up, but in the end , did a 180 degree turn, and till today I do not know the reason why. of course I was disappointed, and surprised. However I think my greatest disappointment is from someone whom I adored and care for did not show much concern and appear to be lukewarm. I figure I dont exist in her life and felt I have been used. That's gratitude for you folks. It's not that I want any thing from her , but some concern or time spent together would be nice. Surely that is not asking too much? The last incident sadden me greatly. I got blamed ,for what only God knows. Then she broke our date she had confirm earlier, but went with someone else instead.Forget about making appointment, She has to do all her stuff ,while you wait. would she drop everything just for me? I guess I know the answer now.On the other hand I would. Do I feel bitter about the whole thing? No, stupid maybe, but not bitter and certainly no regrets. I have done what I have done and I honestly can say I enjoyed every moments I had with her. How I loved her. ,but I don't expected her to know this.
I have been thinking hard, perhaps it's time to let go and forget about the whole episode and moved on. It is not going to be easy and I am not sure I can handle .Anyway I am thankful for my younger son,Joel who is very close to me since young, never failed to expressed his love for me. Love you too son. His older brother however is less expressive, but I do know he care too. Lastly my lovely wife who have been very caring and understanding and put up with me all this years. In other week ,will be our 28th year together. Thanks Darling for your love too.We had earlier plan to celebrate our anniversay with some friends, but has to cancel it due to the insistance of my wife. refer to my post here.
The other things to reconsider is my on line business. Have not been successful in them,Having failed a couple of times.I think I have to resolved to the fact I may not be cut out for this.
That's about wrap up story of my life.
Good night, hopefully 2010 will be kinder.

Here is a song by the marmalades, title reflection of my life

MY TRIP TO BANGKOK

After postponing for so long, finally was able to make it to Bangkok on 9th November, 2009.My wife who was suppose to travelled with me, could not join me due to leave problem, so it was me all alone. At the airport to meet me was Nuch a family friend.
I must confessed the first night at the hotel was not to my expectation. sure I have slept in worst places before, but this was suppose to be a vacation(or so I thought) the bed was rather hard and I did not get a good night sleep. when my friend came the next morning and saw the room, she was so Apologetic(actually she did not book the room, but her friend did on her behalf) and request I changed to another hotel ,which was just next door. It was much better, although cost much more ,but it was comfortable. Anyway the next day after having breakfast together at the hotel, where stayed, she dropped me together with her son at weekend market .The young lad was amazing and braved for a guy his age. He is only 9. after going around for a short period, we received a call from his mother saying there was a changed of plan, as another friend of hers had invited us for her birthday party and she will pick us up in half an hour's time. when we seems lost,my young guide have no problem (without my prompting) asking for direction to get to the main road.
When we arrived at the friend's place which was the outskirt of Bangkok, only then did I RealizeI was going to be their guinea pig, for some loss hair product.so I sat through the process which lasted some 45 mins or so. Then it was time to eat, we drove to town and had sea food . After some karoke session, it was time to take leave as it was getting late and I was tired ,plus the fact I did not have a good rest the day before.
sunday was the day I was looking forward to, it was a day I was to meet my friend whom I met on tagged and facebook and it will be our first meeting.
we had agreed to meet up at MBK(ma boon kon) mall. I was early so I walked around the mall until her arrival at 12.30pm. we had lunch, then we headed for the muzuem. it started raining heavily.the first time it rained since my arrival at Bangkok.
In the evening,we had dinner at suan nam night bazaar, walked a bit before I called it a day, as I had an early morning flight the next day, and I did not want to take too much of my friend's time.
It was quite an experience being my first trip in Bangkok, but I prefer Hatyai,as I was more familiar with the town and it was not difficult to walk around to places I wanted to go to.

A touching story

Have not been updating my blog lately, kinda of lazy and without any inspiration. Anyway this touching story came in the mail. I had read it before, and reading it again still bring tears to my eyes. I would like to share it and hope you are blessed just as I have been.

I sat, with two friends, in the picture window of a restaurant just off the corner of the town-square. The food and the company were both especially good that
day. As we talked, my attention was drawn outside, across the street. There, walking into town, was a man who appeared to be carrying all his worldly goods on his back. He was carrying a well-worn sign that read, 'I will work for food.'
My heart sank.I brought him to the attention of my friends and noticed that others around us had stopped eating to focus on him. Heads moved in a mixture of sadness and disbelief.
We continued with our meal, but his image lingered in my mind. We finished our meal and went our separate ways. I had errands to do and quickly set out to accomplish them. I glanced toward the town square, looking somewhat halfheartedly for the strange visitor. I was fearful knowing that seeing him again would call some response. I drove through town and saw nothing of him. I made some purchases
at a store and got back in my car. Deep within me, the Spirit of God kept speaking to me: 'Don't go back to the office until you've at least driven once more
> around the square.'Then with some hesitancy, I headed back into town. As I turned the square's third corner, I saw him. He was standing on the steps of the store front church going through his sack. I stopped and looked; feeling both compelled to speak to him, yet wanting to drive on. The empty parking space on the corner seemed to be a sign from God: an invitation to park. I pulled in, got out and approached the town's newest visitor.
'Looking for the pastor?' I asked. 'Not really,' he replied, 'just resting.'
'Have you eaten today?' 'Oh, I ate something early this morning.' '
'Would you like to have lunch with me?' 'Do you have some work I could do for
you?' 'No work,' I replied 'I commute here to work from the city, but I would like to take you to lunch.' 'Sure,' he replied with a smile. As he began to gather his things, I asked some surface questions.
Where you headed?' St. Louis ' 'Where you from?' 'Oh, all over; mostly Florida .' 'How long you been walking?' 'Fourteen years,' knew I had met someone unusual. We sat across from each other in the same restaurant I had left earlier. His face was weathered slightly beyond his 38 years. His eyes were dark yet clear, and he spoke with an eloquence and articulation that was startling. He removed his jacket to reveal a bright red T-shirt that said, 'Jesus is The Never Ending Story.' Then Daniel's story began to unfold. He had seen rough times early in life. He'd made some wrong choices and reaped the consequences. Fourteen years earlier, while backpacking across the country, he had stopped on the beach in Daytona. He tried to hire on with some men who were putting up a large tent and some equipment. A concert, he thought. He was hired, but the tent would not house a concert but revival services, and in those services he saw life more clearly. He gave his life over to God. 'Nothing's been the same since,' he said, 'I felt the Lord telling me to keep walking, and so I did, some 14 years now.' 'Ever think of stopping?' I asked. 'Oh, once in a while, when it seems to get the best of me But
God has given me this calling. I give out Bibles That's what's in my sack. I work to buy food and Bibles, and I give them out when His Spirit leads.' I sat amazed. My homeless friend was not homeless. He was on a mission and lived this way by choice. The question burned inside for a moment and then I asked: 'What's it like?'
'What?' 'To walk into a town carrying all your things on your back and to show your sign?' 'Oh, it was humiliating at first. People would stare and make comments. Once someone tossed a piece of half-eaten bread and made a gesture that certainly didn't make me feel welcome. But then it became humbling to realize that God was using me to touch lives and change people's concepts of other folks like me.' My concept was changing, too. We finished our dessert and gathered his things. Just outside the door, he paused He turned to me and said, 'Come Ye blessed of my Father and inherit the kingdom I've prepared for you. For when I was hungry you gave me food, when I was thirsty you gave me drink, a stranger and you took me in.' I felt as if we were on holy ground. 'Could you use another Bible?' I asked. He said he preferred a certain translation. It traveled well and was not too heavy. It was also his personal favorite. 'I've read through it 14 times,' he said. 'I'm not sure we've got one of those, but let's stop by our church and see' I was able to find my new friend a Bible that would do well, and he seemed very grateful. 'Where are you headed from here?' I asked. 'Well, I found this little map on the back of this amusement park coupon.' 'Are you hoping to hire on there for awhile?'
'No, I just figure I should go there. I figure someone under that star right there needs a Bible, so that's where I'm going next.'He smiled, and the warmth of his spirit radiated the sincerity of his mission. I drove him back to the town-square where we'd met two hours earlier, and as we drove, it started raining. We parked and unloaded his things. 'Would you sign my autograph book?' he asked. 'I like to keep messages from folks I meet.' I wrote in his little book that his commitment to his calling had touched my life. I encouraged him to stay strong. And I left him with a verse of scripture from Jeremiah, 'I know the plans I have for you, declared the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you; Plans to give you a future and a hope.' 'Thanks, man,' he said. 'I know we just met and we're really just strangers, but I love you.' 'I know,' I said, 'I love you, too.' 'The Lord is good!' 'Yes, He is. How long has it been since someone hugged you?' I asked. A long time,' he replied. And so on the busy street corner in the drizzling rain, my new friend and I embraced (hug ), and I felt deep inside that I had been changed. He put his things on his back, smiled his winning smile and said, 'See you in the New Jerusalem.' ( New Kingdom of God )'I'll be there!' was my reply. He began his journey again. He headed away with his sign dangling from his bedroll and pack of Bibles. He stopped, turned and said, 'When you see something that makes you think of me, will you pray for me?' 'You bet,' I shouted back, 'God bless.' 'God bless.' And that was the last I saw of him. Late that evening as I left my office, the wind blew strong. The cold front had settled hard upon the town. I bundled up and hurried to my car. As I sat back and reached for the emergency brake, I saw them.. a pair of well-worn brown work gloves neatly laid over the length of the handle. I picked them up and thought of my friend and wondered if his hands would stay warm that night without them. Then I remembered his words: 'If you see something that makes you think of me, will you pray for me?' Today his gloves lie on my desk in my office. They help me to see the world and its people in a new way, and they help me remember those two hours with my unique friend and to pray for his ministry. 'See you in the New Jerusalem,' he said. Yes, Daniel, I know I will... 'I shall pass this way but once. Therefore, any good that I can do or any kindness that I can show, let me do it now, for I shall not pass this way again.'

BROGA TRIP WITH MY WIFE

My wife had her first experience today, when she joined me and my friend Irene and her family to Broga today.
We had make prior arrangement to meet at Asoka at Bukit tinggi. when I reached there this morning at around 7.20am it was closed. Of course today is deepavali, so I called Irene to informed her of a change of venue. After having our breakfast at a nearby restaurant we headed for Broga and reached there at around 9.30am and boy was the place crowed with people. there was hardly any place to park, so we waited awhile .We could see many people was already on their way down and heading for their cars.
Once the cars were parked we made our way uphill and when my wife saw how "high" the hill was she wanted to give up but I keep encouraging her not to give up. After some effort she finally made it to the first peak and was determine she would go no further. so I left her to rest at the fisrt peak while the rest of us continue to the last peak and then headed back to where she was. on the way down we stopped by a fruit stall which was justed open. A very wise decision to set up a stall there as people will be dying to get a drink or something to bite after their tiring hike up the hill and down. We chat a bit with the stall owner and after which we make our way to a nearby restaurant for our lunch.

Here are some shots of our adventure.

MY FIRST WALK EXPERIENCE

Was invited by the administer of Good Samaritan Home(GSH), Mrs Ong, to join the children at a charity walk.called Hunger Relief 2009. The event was co sponsored by KFC and Piza Hut. I arrived at the GSH at around 5.30 am and waited till 6.00am before Kong Hui,another friend of the home arrived.Around 6.30am the mayflower coach came to pick us up. There were 17 of us including the adults. We reached the meeting place in a field near Jalan Paliament. Around 8.30am flag off and we started walking .It was a 3.5km walk. It was great to be able to walk in the otherwise busy street. The traffic was stopped for us.! For a while we felt so important. It was a fun walk. The event ended around 11.30am when we had our lunch and arranged for the same bus to ferry us back to the GSH. It was fun, everyone agreed it was a rather short distant.
Here are some of the goodies we got at the event.

Dinner with ex team members

with Nazwa

It's exactly a week since I retired. We had a sort of reunion with some of my old team members who used to work with me. Some of them have moved on to different company. This is the first of such gathering since we went our separate ways. For me this was my first time since retirement. We met at the secret receipe at Jusco, Bukit tinggit, klang.
We had a great time chit chating and talking about old times. Sweet memories of happy times together. Soon it was time to leave. Hopefully we will meet again. Here are some of the photos.

FFK

you might notice the unusual title to this posting.Perhaps You might have come across this term, or use it yourself.
FFK popular acronyms Fong fei kei in cantonese or Pang per Kee(PPK) in hokkien. Have you done a FFK or have someone done it to you? I know what the feeling is like. just a couple of days ago I got a text message from someone whom I am very fond of saying she has to FFK as she could not make it for our appointment due to heavy work assignment. she was very Apologetic and I know she was sincere when she wrote the text so it was not too hard for me to accept it. But I never thought I would do one myself. A couple of days ago I had sent out invitation to some close friends inviting them to our 28th Wedding aniversary. Then last afternoon my wife drop a bomb. she changed her mind and do not want the dinner as she afraid of problems that might arise from family members. now how do I tell my friends that the dinner was call off. where to I hide my face after informing them the dinner is off?? I was very troubled and did not know how to do it.
I could not sleep the whole night. As I do not want to quarel with my wife over this. I have not choice to force myself to do this unpleasant task of telling my invited guest dinner is now cancelled. I wonder if this could be consider as FFK??
My friends my humble appologies as this decision is inevitable. For the sake of the peace at home I had to agreed even though I dont quite agreed to my wife's Opinion.
Hope to make up with you guys , maybe we can have a simple get together instead.
Hope you guys understand and dont think I enjoy doing the FFK bit.

JOB HUNT

Just retired from WSS after 14 good years. Actually the official date is oct 6th, my birthday, but I took unpaid leave so yesterday was my last day at work.
So many people wonder why I was in a hurry to find a job. Why not relax and enjoyed my retirement for awhile before I begin to look for one. Well I am not use to being jobless. I feel so helpless with nothing to do, plus the fact there wont be much left of my EPF after paying off some commitment etc.
I had my first interview - a group interview, which was a first for me. It was a totally new experience. only 4 candidates came for the group interview. we were given a presentation on the company, before each of us was even 5 minutes to briefly tell those present what our job was and our achievements. There after we were given a case study to ask some questions. just like exams and do I hate exams.I dont think I did too well there. This is one interview I wont forget .oh well there is always other interviews and I will be attending another one on monday. Hope it wont be torturing like the last one.

Signs That the Coming of Yeshua Is Very Near

This came in my email from a friend,(thanks wanda)which makes very interesting reading. It is something we need to ponder and think about.

Signs That the Coming of Yeshua Is Very Near
by Lars and Harriet Enarson
"so, you too, when you see all these things, recognize that He is near, right at the door." (Matt 24:33)
"Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." (2 Tim 4:8)
I (Lars) grew up in a pastor's home where I continually heard sermons on the soon and imminent coming of the Lord. In 1964 I accepted the Messiah Yeshua into my heart as Lord and Savior and heard even more preaching on the subject. Yet the coming of the Lord remained fairly unrealistic. Eventually I became firmly convinced that Yeshua could in fact not return until certain things had been fulfilled first. Acts 3:21 for instance says, "He must remain in heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything, as he promised long ago through his holy prophets."
Around the turn of the millennium many people spoke about the imminent return of Messiah. It did not really impress me. Now, however, for the first time in my life, I see things happening, which tell me that we really are close to the coming of the Messiah. Let me give you some of the signs pointing to this.
1. Jerusalem
"I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling… On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves." (Zech 12:2-3)

Jerusalem is right now becoming the focus of world politics in an unprecedented way. With the election of President Obama as the leader of the super power of the world, a new page has been turned. Israel can today not even evict two Arab families, who have not paid their rent in 25 years, from a Jewish owned home in Jerusalem , without the world uniting in condemning Israel . A Jew building a new apartment in East Jerusalem is presently more of a concern to the new US administration, than Iran building a nuclear bomb!
The Obama administration has set up an apparatus to closely monitor Jewish construction in Jerusalem and the strategic West Bank , to the point of watching Israeli moves house-to-house in certain key neighborhoods almost on a daily basis. The U.S. Consulate in Jerusalem is the only one in the world which reports directly to the White House, rather than to the State Department. For the past few months, Obama's Middle East envoy, George Mitchell, has protested to the highest levels of the Israeli government about evidence found of any Jewish housing expansion in those areas. World leaders are more united in dividing Jerusalem than in stopping another Holocaust. Prophecy is being fulfilled.
2. The Temple
"He will oppose and will exalt himself over everything that is called God or is worshiped, so that he sets himself up in God's temple, proclaiming himself to be God." (2 Thess 2:4)
From the prophetic word it seems like the Temple will be rebuilt in Jerusalem before Yeshua returns. This has up to now seemed completely impossible. Not any more!
Last month representatives of the newly re-established Sanhedrin in Jerusalem met with a very influential Muslim leader from Turkey , named Adnan Oktar. They released a joint statement that the Temple in Jerusalem ought to be rebuilt right away
here
Listen to what the Muslim leader said,
"It could be done in a year at most. It could be built to the same perfection and beauty. The Torah says it was built in 13 years, if I remember correctly. It could be rebuilt in a year in its perfect form."
Another possibility being considered that is even easier to accomplish, is that the Dome of the Rock itself that sits so prominently on the Temple Mount could be used as "a place prayer for all nations."

One of the rabbis has stated, "This should be fairly simple. It is said that the structure of the Dome in Haram E-Sharrif (the Temple Mount ) was originally meant by (Caliph) Omar to be a House of Prayer for Jews, and the Al-Aqsa for Muslims."
What is equally amazing is that according to a recent poll, a clear two-thirds majority of Israelis today support the idea of rebuilding the Temple . This represents a major change in opinion among Israelis. The stage is being set right now for the coming of the antichrist, as the Scriptures say.
3. A Global Economy
"He also forced everyone, small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead, so that no one could buy or sell unless he had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name." (Rev 13:16-17)

The prophetic word speaks about a global financial system that will be set up before Yeshua returns. During the past year, more and more world leaders are calling for such a system. At the recent G8 meeting this summer, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev illustrated his call for a supranational currency to replace the dollar by pulling from his pocket a sample coin of a "united future world currency."see here
"Here it is," Medvedev said. "You can see it and touch it. The question of a supranational currency concerns everyone now, even the mints. The test coin 'means they’re getting ready. I think it’s a good sign that we understand how interdependent we are." The coin, which bears the words "unity in diversity," was minted in Belgium and presented to the heads of G-8 delegations. We are getting very close to what the Bible has predicted for two thousand years!
4. The Euphrates
"The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates , and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the East."(Rev 16:12)
This prophecy is being fulfilled right now, according to an article in New York Times this summer see here
"The Euphrates is drying up. Strangled by the water policies of Iraq’s neighbors, Turkey and Syria; a two-year drought; and years of misuse by Iraq and its farmers, the river is significantly smaller than it was just a few years ago. Some officials worry that it could soon be half of what it is now.
"The shrinking of the Euphrates , a river so crucial to the birth of civilization that the Book of Revelation prophesied its drying up as a sign of the end times, has decimated farms along its banks, has left fishermen impoverished and has depleted riverside towns as farmers flee to the cities looking for work."
Amazingly, even the New York Times mentions the drying up of the Euphrates as a prophetic sign!
5. The Antichrist
"Then I saw the beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together to make war against the rider on the horse and his army. But the beast was captured, and with him the false prophet who had performed the miraculous signs on his behalf. …The two of them were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur." (Rev 19:19-20)
The Muslim version of the Messiah, the Mahedi, by Shiites called the "Twelfth Imam", could very well be the antichrist of the Bible, called the beast in the Book of Revelation.
Before the election of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, belief in the coming Mahedi was only a religious issue. Not any more. Ahmadinejad has a clear political program to prepare the way for the Muslim Mahedi, by creating a world crisis that must be solved by a strong world leader! The Iranian nuclear program is part of this political agenda. In less than one year Iran can have access to a nuclear weapon.
"For the past five years, the Iranian religious and political leaders have annually gathered together for two days in the city of Qom for what is called 'The International Conference of Mahdism Doctrine.'" says Joel Richardson, author of the newly released book The Islamic Antichrist Each year a growing number of Sunni Muslims and Christians(!) join the predominantly Shiite hosts.
It is shocking how accurately the Muslim Mahedi fits with the Bible's description of the antichrist that will make war against Israel at Armageddon. According to Muslim belief, the Mahedi will make a peace treaty for seven years with Israel , which he will later break. He will set up his throne, not in Mecca , but in Jerusalem ! He will force all Christians and Jews to convert to Islam or they will be killed, probably after 3½ years when they have had their chance. Sounds pretty much like what Christians teach about the antichrist, doesn't it?
This past week, the largest political faction among the Palestinians next to Hamas, the Fatah party held their first political congress in 20 years. Encouraged by President Obama, they now refuse to hold any more peace negotiations with Israel , unless Israel stops all settlement activity, and agrees to withdraw, not only to the pre- 1967 borders, but from all of Jerusalem , both East and West! The entire congress was a week long beating of war drums, where they emphasized their right to armed struggle and that they will never accept Israel as a Jewish state. The prophets speak about the Messiah coming to destroy the nations attacking Jerusalem . Every one of the nations mentioned in these prophecies is a Muslim nation. It could literally happen very soon. Prophecy is being fulfilled right before our eyes.
6. The Sun and the Moon
"The sun will be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord." (Acts 2:20)
This is by far the single most often repeated sign in the Bible of the coming of the Messiah! According to Genesis 1:14, God created the stars, the sun and the moon to be signs. The Hebrew word for sign is ot and the root word for ot means "to come." The stars, sun and moon are signs of His coming!
As we stated last month, our friend Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries has pointed out that in 2014 and 2015 there will be four blood red moons back to back, for two years in a row on the Feasts of Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles. NASA calls this phenomenon of four red moons in a row a tetrad.
This phenomenon also happened right after the state of Israel was born in 1948 and right after the six day war in 1967. You must go back in time all the way to 1492, the year when the Jewish people were forced out from Spain , to find the same phenomenon. Going forward in time a tetrad like this will never happen again in this century!
7. Judgment
"Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are his judgments." (Rev 19:1-2)
What Mark Biltz also discovered, was that beginning seven years prior to 2015 the sun will become darkened three years in a row on the same day on the Biblical calendar: the first day of Av. A solar eclipse usually speaks of judgment on the nations, and exactly two months after the first of these solar eclipses, on the Feast of Trumpets, which is also called the Day of Judgment, God judged the world economy. The Dow Jones index on Wall Street fell 777.7 points, a 7% drop and a 700 billion dollar loss on a failed 700 billion dollar bail out package on the first day of the 7th month on God's calendar, 7 years before the final blood red moon in 2015!
Pastor Bengt Berggren, a Swedish friend of ours, has pointed out that this financial crash on Wall Street on the Feast of Trumpets, was undoubtedly a clear message from God. It was written on the wall on the banquet hall of finances, just like it was in the banquet hall of King Belshazzar in Babylon . A small detail is that when Wall Street opens there is always a sound from a clock on the wall. This day for some unknown reason it never sounded. We read in Daniel 5:25-28,
"This is the inscription that was written:
MENE, MENE, TEKEL, PARSIN
"This is what these words mean:
Mene : God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
Tekel : You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
Peres : Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians."
Pastor Berggren points out that according to David Flynn in his bookTemple at the Center of Time , the words that were written on the wall are also measurements of money. You can see this as well in the notes of the NASB Bible. Mene is a mina, which normally equaled 50 shekels of silver.Tekel is another word for a shekel. And Parsin is half a shekel. A shekel is 20 gerah. Together Mene, mene, tekel, parsin equals 2520 gerahs, which is the number of days in one prophetic week of years, or seven years!
Well known author Bill Koenig, has pointed out that ten days later, the last day of the Ten Days of Awe leading up to Yom Kippur symbolizing the time of God's judgments over the earth, the Dow Jones index fell another 678.910 (6,7,8,9,10) points.. Notice the sequence of the numbers! The chances that this is a coincidence are less than 1 in 99,999. Koenig interprets this to mean that God has begun to judge all nations according to the commandments number 6 to 10 of the Ten Commandments. When the G20 nations met last November in London , to deal with the global financial crisis, the text portion from the Torah for that day was about the flood of Noah. It is too late! The judgment has already begun.
We are not setting any dates, but we can without a doubt say that the coming of the Lord is very near! We need to watch and pray every day as watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem as the antichrist will seek to annihilate Israel and the Jewish people, which is exactly the stated goal of Islam.
• Pray that many Christians will wake up and become watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem !
"I have posted watchmen on your walls, O Jerusalem ; they will never be silent day or night. You who call on the LORD, give yourselves no rest, and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem and makes her the praise of the earth." (Isa 62:6-7)
• Pray that God will protect Israel from those who come against Jerusalem !
"On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem ." (Zech 12:9)
• Pray that God will strengthen the leaders among the Jewish people and give them supernatural wisdom, especially the Prime Minister and his inner cabinet!
"On that day I will make the leaders of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume right and left all the surrounding peoples, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place."(Zech 12:6)
• Pray for the outpouring of the spirit of grace and supplication over the Jewish people that they will see the one that has been pierced for them!
"And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication. They will look on me, the one they have pierced, and they will mourn for him as one mourns for an only child, and grieve bitterly for him as one grieves for a firstborn son." (Zech 12:10)
• Pray all of psalm 83 which includes victory over Hezbollah (the people of Tyre ), Hamas and Fatah ( Philistia ) and the whole Arab world!
"O God, do not keep silent; be not quiet, O God, be not still. See how your enemies are astir, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. "Come," they say, "let us destroy them as a nation, that the name of Israel be remembered no more." (Ps 83:1-4)
• Pray that many Muslims will convert and accept Yeshua as Lord and Savior!
"pursue them with your tempest and terrify them with your storm. Cover their faces with shame so that men will seek your name, O LORD." (Ps 83:15-16)
God bless you as watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem !
