RECOLLECTION OF 2016

Can’t believe the year is almost coming to a close, soon it will be another new year.
Here are a recap of some of my activities for 2016. (not in sequence but catergorised.
Runs: Feb 13- The fairy tale run. Felt rather awkward meeting some people there, but I shall not dwell there.
May 8-Run for humanity at Taman Rakyat klang. This is the first time I signed up for two events which fall on the same day. Only when I checked for the collection date did I realized my folly. So in the end I had to give up the KLSC run, which was also in klang but a bit further and I settle for the one at Taman Rakyat, as it was nearer to where I stayed.
Aug6- Ocbc Bank/Kccl charity run at Jalan Meru. Met one of my hiking friend there.
Aug 20- Puma night run-they changed the venue to Shah Alam. Had a hard time trying to locate the place. Met a friend from the gym.She bought me a burger for dinner.
Nov 20th – the first North face event. :The North face outdoor challenge with my hiking friends.

DR CARYN KOH IN PENANG MURAL.

 0 1 1 2

This is something to look forward to when I visit Penang next.
Girl in Penang mural stunned at how ‘big’ she is

 | November 23, 2016
Dr Caryn Koh, in recently completed larger-than-life mural at Magazine Road, George Town says she never knew she would be immortalised five-storeys high.

GEORGE TOWN: Dr Caryn Koh had no clue she was going to be a familiar face someday until an artist rendered a soulful image of her, in a mural reaching five-storeys high into the sky in Penang.
When told her face would be seen by thousands of Penangites and out-of-towners as they converged in Magazine Road from the Penang Bridge, she said humbly enough, “Oh really?”
The image of the 29-year-old arts major from Petaling Jaya, was drawn by Canadian street-artist Emmanuel Jarus on the facade of the 1st Avenue Mall here over the weekend.
Spanning some 24-feet wide, it is learnt Jarus took nearly five days to complete the impressive work of art.
In an interview with FMT, Dr Koh, a trained medical doctor-turned-artist, said it was an honour to be memorialised by a freestyle artist like Jarus.
“I have been following his work. I am so honoured to be his subject.” she said.
Dr Koh she was first introduced to Jarus through Penang-based art coordinator Tan Chor Whye, when they were down in Kuala Lumpur to help fellow street-artist Ernest Zacharevic on a mural he was working on.
Explaining how the mural in Penang came about, Dr Koh, said it was based on a candid shot Jarus took of her staring in amazement at the interiors of a cave at Batu Caves, Selangor.
“I was so mesmerised by the caves and the scenery at the time. Jarus was taking photos but I did not know he took my picture.
“I was wearing shorts at the time and luckily I brought a pair of tie-dye Aladdin pants (harem pants) as part of the dress code to visit the caves.
“Only when they (Jarus and Zacharevic) returned to Penang, was I told actually, ‘I am going to paint you.’ And I was like ‘oh, okay?’
“I did not object because I was honoured to be his (Jarus) subject. But I never knew it was going to be this big,” Dr Koh exclaimed.

She is currently part of an arts collective with four others called Titik Merah, with a gallery at Publika, Solaris Dutamas in KL.
Dr Koh herself, an accomplished artist, is well known for her #sekolahseries illustrations, of a schoolgirl sketched in simple lines in pen and contrasting scratches of colour pencil, in her national school uniform, that symbolise the limitations set on oneself.
Speaking about her transition from doctor to artist, Dr Koh said she pursued medicine at her parent’s urging although her lifelong dream was to be an artist.
She earned her medical degree in IMU, and trained at hospitals in Wigan, England.
“After returning home, I felt like medicine was not something I wanted to do.
“My passion lay in art, it was natural, and I had always wanted to do it. There was a drive,” she said.
Dr Koh said her parents were thankfully supportive of her work and excited to find her image now displayed for all to see on a building in Penang.
When asked if she would come to Penang to see first-hand the mural with her image, Dr Koh said: “Maybe end of December or early next year!”

NORTH FACE OUTDOOR CHALLENGE.

Have done a couple of  obstacles run at Tandom, 3 to be exact, but I forego the last one by Tandom base until I saw the event by North face. I know my friend Jimmy is a big fan of North face, and so I tag him. And he responsed by saying ok on.To be honest I was not expecting that. Anyway a team was put up and he created the team name "Fun above challenge" and that was what we did. Just having fun.  Some of the obstacles I was so looking forward to was not there. The run was in two installment rather than the normal at one go. So the first loop we did 5 km but turn out it was lesser than that. After doing some 10 obstacles, we were back to the finishing line and then to the starting line to do the second loop with another 10 obstacles. As usuall I avoid the ice box and the slide. But surprisingly this time I manage to do the first monkey bar. Overall it was fun in the company of friends.

SAD TO SEE YOU GO...

Was rather disappointed that I could not attend the last class with my sifu, but I did manage to join her for dinner. If I have to propose a toast it would goes like this.

May I propose a toast to the most amazing girl I ever met.I remember when I saw her name on the schedule at the gym, I sent her a message to check if she was indeed the one who was to replace the outgoing Body combat instructor. I sent her a friend request immediately once acknowledged she was. That was November 6th 2013.Even though I have know her only for a short period, but I felt like I knew her for a long time. That's why she will always be my favourite body combat sifu.
From day one I met her, I just knew she would find a friend in her. Over the years she have proven to be a warm, and caring person that she is. I am really blessed to know her. All the best to you sifu as you and till we meet again.
I must say I really enjoyed her presence and  have  many opportunities to be around her in some of the activities we did together. Hope we can do them again in future.

SHOULD I OR SHOUD'NT I?

I have been invited to hang out with some of my hiking friends at a near by hill and  we are to sleep on our hammock. Emm have never done this before. Further more I get up at night to go to the bath room a couple of times. This will be the challenging part, walking in the dark looking for a place to do my business. Anyway I still have two months to decide.

or should I just settle for a one man's tent?

THE RACE THAT NEVER WAS 2

MSept 16 2016 is Malaysia day and every year there will be a run organised by or Klang Town Council   I had not planned to run in this event as I have plan to stop running all together. But a week before the event my boss appoach me to sign up since it was free and not to disappoint him I did. So this morning I was there early saw the 21 km being flagged off and waiting patiently for the 5km(yes I choose the least Km) After a few minutes after the flagged off for the 21 km it started raining cats and dogs. I had to seek cover at one of the sponse's tent. After more than half an hour the organiser have to cancel the run. There were so many disappointed runners that day. Good thing I took two selfies with my cute cute gym instructor.

FORGETFULNESS

The ability to forget can happen to anyone whether you are young or old you
There are bound to be days you just forgets something  It just slips your mind
There were times I forgot my wallet until I reached my office. So it can happen to just anybody.
So what happen if someone forgets to do something for you? Do you confront them and ask?
I find it quite difficult to do that. I just give them a benefit of a doubt.Maybe it just slip their mind, and it was not intentional. So if they don't bring it up, just let it go and do not bring up the subject again. What if we were the ones who forgot to do something for our friends? Would you like them to be kind to you as well?  I  would. There were also a few incident where appointment was also forgotten. This happen a few years ago, where a hiking friend whom we met at Johor and he invited us to visit his hometown at Penang for a hike and so we agreed on a date. When the actual date arrived we found ourselves at Penang but our "host" was no where to be seen. We could not reach him on the phone. So we continue with our visit without him .Days later we saw his post on facebook. He went on a holiday in a foreign country on day of our visit. He had totally forgotten on our visit.  Needless to say it didnt go well with us.  Then there  another incident which happen quite recently. This girl just got posted  at Miri and so we told her we will be there for a hike and we agreed to meet up since she could not could us in our hike. On the day when we landed she could not be reached. Apparently she had forgotten all about it until she saw our post on facebook. but the different was she extended her appologies, which was acceptable without reserve.

MIRACLES FROM HEAVEN

Just watch this movie last night. I have to say ,one of the best movie I have watched in years!
It is based on a true life story. I just loved it, not only it had me in tears, it also reafirm my faith and belief in God.

Anna Beam (Kylie Rogers) lives with a rare, incurable disorder that leaves her unable to digest food. Despite the dire diagnosis, devoted mom Christy (Jennifer Garner) relentlessly searches for a way to save her beloved daughter. Everything changes in an instant when Anna tells an amazing story of a visit to heaven after surviving a headlong tumble into a tree. Her family and doctors become even more baffled when the young girl begins to show signs of recovering from her fatal condition.
Release dateMarch 16, 2016 (USA)

Annabel Beam was only 9-years-old when she fell down a hollowed-out tree and landed on her skull. Despite other horror stories in which spines were snapped and skulls were broken, Annabel emerged with a few scratches and a miracle: She was cured of a lifelong illness.

MY LAST RUN ?

The Puma Night run 2016 was supposed to be my last run as planned. Not just for this year, but for good. As I ran, I was struggling so much and walking most of the time and stopping at all the water station . This was a vast contrast to the first time I did my run , when I hardly stop. Also I never had cramp before, but this time after the run while driving suddenly I had a cramp on my right leg. It was so unbearable. Not a good way to end a run.

Anyway one of my friend has gone into the run event business and I had to lend support.
So come december I will be there, but not so much to run maybe take some photos and leisure walk?
Event page is here

NOAH(The Movie)

Just watched the Movie Noah staring Russel Crowe. At the begining it seems so promissing, but as the movie progress, I reliase it does not remain faithful to the Bible. There were so many errors. Genesis 7 v. 13 says On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark. So in total there were 8 people on board. The chinese writting for boat is 船 . (the word eight (八) above the mouth(口) meaning eight people.
The film shows 6 of the family and one of what was suppose to be cain's decedent who somehow manage to get into the ark.
Another scene shows Shem's wife was about to give birth and Noah says if the baby was a girl he has to kill her. What? Also mentioned was God wanted to punish man(mankind) and they were spare so that they could spend the remaining days to wait for death? what logic is that.? If God wanted to punished them, why go all the trouble to built the ark.He might as well wipe them in the flood together with the rest of the evil people.  It is not true God is a God of love and compassion, in fact while building the ark, Noah was told also to warn the people to repent and invitation was given to those to go to the ark but none heeded the warning until it was to late. Well this is just like Hollywood always twisting facts just to make the movie interesting.
Read the full Bible account in the Bible from Genesis chapter 7 till 9.
