This post is somewhat influence by a
canadian blogger . When I commended on his
Ray-ban., he suggested I pick up one too. Well I did not give it much thought until now.
I don't remember when I first started wearing a sun glass, but I know it was after I started working.
This was my first shade, a mona lisa. except maybe with a bit darker tone. What makes me wore one? Apart from looking cool, it protect my eyes from the sun and wind. yes even wind, as I was riding a suzuki motor bike then.

I think some of the American movies has some influence on me too. Guys with shade really look cool, with all the hot chicks around them. I did set my eyes on ray-ban even back then, but since I just started working, I could ill afford getting one. Mona lisa seems to be the cheapest one I could afford. I was using it for quite awhile until I ran into a lorry, no actually the lorry was in the way. Anyway I came out unscratch, but my mona lisa was history. I got another replacement and used it for a number of years ,but I can't recall where I had placed it.
Over the years, I was using different brands even though I had upgrade from motor bike to cars. Lee Cooper was one brand recomended to me by a sales girl at a shop near the gym I frequent. Just as stylish and most importantly practical.

Of course nothing beats a Ray-ban, but lets face it not everyone will look nice in them.
One can't escape to take notice of the cool shades on Erik Estada in the popular tv series c.h.i.p.s.

I've totally forget about this brand until Lee mentioned about it umpteen times in his blog. Yes, Rayban sunglasses is classic. I never appreciated Rayban when I was young then, as much as I do now. I used to think that only older generation would wear such brand.
ReplyDeleteBut I was wrong. I'm thinking of getting one now :D
Johnnie, by the way did you get your Rayban?

Hi Hayley
ReplyDeleteAgreed, it a sure welcome against the glaring sun.
Way to go, Johnnie. Nice Ray Ban that you have got yourself as your early Christmas gift.
ReplyDeleteCHIPS was one of my favourite TV series during my childhood. I remember the guy, Erik Espada too. Focus Point? Ok, I will go soon, hope the promotion is still on.
Sheoh Yan,
ReplyDeletethanks. Hope you will find something nice too.
Hi Johnnie, ha ha, I see you have some foreign influence here re sunglasses.
ReplyDeleteI very recently had my annual eye test, and doc says no change.
Reason being I wear my Rayban sunglass anytime I go out.
I have 5 Raybans, a reading glass, a half tint sunglass, a normal one for home or night use, a dark blue/black sunglass, and only last week collected my new gold rim Rayban in original Rayban dark green colours.
In winter with the white glaring snow, we need good sunglasses to drive.
Been using Raybans 45 years.....If I change brands my wife will not recognize me, ha ha. As well my Zippo lighter, 40 years old.
Thats a nice one, last pic. Go for it, Johnnie....get that gold rim one if you can
Best regards.
Lee.
HI Lee
ReplyDeleteWow 5 Raybans? Btw are they cheaper over there? It has been raining almost everyday, I have not got the chance to try out mine. I tried wearing one sunglass while driving at night. It does help protect against the high lights from on coming cars.
About your Zippo I almost got one, then I stopped myself, because I don't smoke. ha ha.
