Out of the blues, I had the yearning to go to Bangkok for rock climbing, so I posted on my fb status .One friend from singapore responsed and so of we went . Was surprise to find cheaper fare on Mas and so I booked the flight without delays. I checked with my friend who owns a climbing gym at Bangkok where was the nearest budget hotel from his gym and I was told to choose those at Kaosan road and I did just that, only to find out on my arrival it was not that near. Another mistake I did on my arrival at the Airport was to take a limousine and it cost me a bomb . 1000 baht or equivalent to RM100.00 .I was told it only cost around 600 baht(or rm60.00) from the Hotel to the airport. How come the vast difference when it is the same distance? Even that was expensive because on my return trip I took a metered taxi and it only cost me 300 baht or Rm30.00 So from the first day of my arrival I was already taken for a ride. That's the price for being ignorant or even naive. I arrived earlier than my singapore friend(forgot to ask her how much she paid for her taxi) On the first day we rested and had dinner together.
The next day was where our adventure begins. Took a meter cab this time. We were told tuk-tuk will cost even more. Howcome at Hatyai they are cheaper? Our taxi driver did not know the actual address to the place we wanted to go and dropped us on the main road saying it was quite near by and we should have no problem finding the place. But it turn out to be a long and tiring hunt. Asked around from a few passer by and one thing about the Thais they are so helpful and even volunteer to make call to my friend to ask for the direction. I had my thai sim when I arrived, but to my horrors discovered the credit finish very fast. Must be the one call I made the day before to my singaporean friend to check on her arrival. ! We finally found my friend's gym and had a good climb at this gym before we bid him farewell. On the way back we dropped by at two shopping mall nearby and did some shopping before heading back to the hotel. Rested for a while and evening had dinner nearby the hotel and also had our feet massage!. Our tired feet really need that.

Day two was much easier to find the second gym as it was located at a shopping center.
The Thais must loved pink color so much as I see pink almost every where we went. From pink taxis ,buses ,ATM and even bank.

Day three we did have anywhere to go, so we just walked around the surrounding area and end up at a park nearby and witness a tv station on location. There was a fort nearby as well.

Not a bad trip. At least I got to get way to relax after working for so long. Finally got a chance for a holiday since my retirement.
