LEARNING THE ROPES AGAIN

After 6 weeks of anxiety and hard work, we finally completed our course on safety climbing.
Some of the areas covered were:-
*Belaying(which I had earlier gone through at another climbing gym, so this is like a refesher course for me)
*Climbing technique
*Bouldering (not easy but interesting and challenging)
*lead climbing -nice enough but I dont want to get myself killed doing this ha ha
*some useful knots memory refreshed :figure of '8” knot and clove hitch which I had learnt during my children ministry days with the Royal Rangers.
The reason I signed up for this course was to encourge my son and my friend . I am glad they enjoyed themselves doing this together.

Some of the equipments I had bought as a result of this course and sport

Climbing Shoes

Harness

Belay Sets

Carabiner

Chalk Bag plus chalk ball inside

Now I am fully equiped and I am ready to climb anywhere(oops did I say that?)

  2. Johnnie, salute you. It looks dangerous from your header pictures, but you have managed to do it. Bravo to you.
There are also quite a lot of gadgets that you have invested.

  3. I'm scared of height, Johnnie. No one can convince me to take up this course.

But I enjoy watching those movies which involve rock climbing.
Looks like you now have both hiking and climbing to do every weekend :)

  6. Sheoh Yan,

The header picture is just posing only. shhh.. I did not climb up, as it was getting late and everyone has gone down hill and we need to catch up with them.It is dangerous and we always emphasize on safety and if is too dangerous we will not try it and I personally will not try it.But that one looks doeable, perhaps someday will have a go.

  7. Yvonne,

I will let you on a secret , I am scare of height too and I am still having cold feet each time trying to climb those walls. I guess we have to overcome our fear sometimes and it takes time and courage. I am slowly but surely will get over it. Hope you will give it a shot. try the lower one first, who knows you might end up liking it. It's a good sport. I see now family bringing their little ones to the center and they have no problem climbing. I guess children with their innocence does not think of such thing, wherelse , we will analyze everything and our minds will tell us we can't do it and thus the fears come it.
