When it comes to food, one cannot take another person's word for it. You just got to try it out for yourself to know if it is really good. My friends have been telling how fantastic, classic this wanton mee was. After hearing it for so many times, I just got to test it out and taste for myself if it is as good as I was told. So last sunday I made arrangement with my friends and we met up at the restaurant. We even have two friends who came all the way from singapore just to try this out. And my verdict? To be honest I thought it was too salty.
However I like the wanton and the chicken legs. As they says "one man's meat is another man's poison" Anyway you may want to check this out for yourself. The name of the shop is
EN JI NOODLE HOUSE is at No. 41, Jalan Beladau 4, Taman Puteri Wangsa, 81800 Ulu Tiram, Johor Bahru, Johor. First look for the Esso Petrol Station(it's about 1.3km inside Puteri Wangsa from the main road(JB-Kota Tinggi).
Yea, everybody has different taste bud... But the mee looks yummy from the photo~
ReplyDeleteI agree with Hayley, from the picture, it looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteHayley & Sheoh Yan. looks can be deceiving. as they say in Hokkien. Hor kua , bo Hor chiak.(nice to look, no good to eat).
ReplyDeletejust a couple days back another friend of mine also said it was too salty, but none of us said it in front of the friend who made the recommendation.
I agree with you,,must try it out baru verdict,,,,, as for me bro,I don't really fancy going to those famous famous makan place,, i rather snoop for C and G around my place,,,,,,,sometimes these places taste so much better with reasonable price,,,,juga

ReplyDeleteI agreed with you too on the 2nd point. I usually also like to go to those less crowded restaurant. people always says those crowded one are the best. not necessary. the lesser crowd one has not been discovered yet.
Further more they will dish out better flavour no rush unlike those crowd places where they are trying to meet customer's orders and so might not be so nice.
Hi Johnnie, you're right about 'one man's meat...'. Everyone of us have different tastes.....For me, at most I'll say, 'try it, see what you think'?
ReplyDeleteHa ha, I love wonton noodles, but not with that chicken feet. Incidentally, our wonton noodles here, the wontons are the size of golf balls, and my Malaysian friends and relatives get a shock see the size!
They even counted the number of prawns inside. 7! Seven whole prawns.
And they tell me in KL "we get sliced prawns inside...maybe at most two prawns sliced".
I've been to Ulu Tiram long ago in the '80s, as stayed in JB for awhile...and love the seafood at Desaru at that fishing village 'Pengarang'. I wonder if that Bauxite mine still there?
You travel a lot I can see. For me, my travelling days are over. I now travel via the Internet, ha ha...
Have a nice day, Johnnie.
Lee.
Hi Lee,
ReplyDeleteno kidding it is the size of a golf balls? maybe they got mixed up with shui kow?(prawn dumpling) lol.
actually I don't travel that much. I have been in Johore for like 9 months and have only been to a couple of town. the furthest I have been was JB. My son who is with me(we work ed for the same boss but different factory though in the same compound) knows more about Johore than me.I have yet to try the seafood here. I heard patah galah has some nice food. will have to try one of these days.
