A LITTLE HELP FROM MY FRIENDS

Today is the day of my daughter's school project held at the charco restaurant She was to prepare 4 course  and invite 40 guests as part of her exams. After the lunch one of friend asked the question why do the school require her to invite 40 guests ? Should the test based o.n her cultery skill? If she cannot get 40 people to test out the dish will she  not make the grade? What a funny ruling.  Anyway she passed her exams and I am glad for her. Total attendance past the 40 mark.
Here are photos of some of my friends who actually make it, even though there were so many who click coming and maybe in the event.

FOOD COURT WITH A DIFFERENCE.

I couldnt help but notice whenever I passed by this this food court in Taman Johor Jaya, there was a stage in the center of the food court. I could hear music. So I last night I droped by after my wall climbing session to check out this place. I invited a few of my friends and my son along. We choose
a table almost at the center ,but not too near to the stage. This was what I saw.

This is the first time I have seen this kind of entertainment in a food court. Of course such sight is very common during ghost festival. Do you have such joint at your place?
I ordered sotong and katong, but it tasted horible. I notice the one preparing was a foreigner. This is a common sight these days, because of the cheap labour the owners and bosses leave everthing to their foreign workers. No more local taste, what was suppose to be a local dish has now become foreign.

WASTE NOT, WANT NOT.

In today's star it was reported Malaysian is throwing away up to 930 tonnes of food daily. It is just shocking that we are wasting our food, when so many people in certain parts of the world go to bed with an empty stomach.   I am not saying we cannot indulge or reward ourselves once in a while with good food, but rather we should order what we can eat . I have seen some people ordering like that is no tomorrow and then a lot of left over because they could not finish their food.  I have no problem to 'ta pau" back what I can't finish . Even when I cook  it is just enough no left over, but if there are any I will keep them in the fridge and eat them the next day.  I just hope malaysian will learnt how not to waste food.

This is appear in today's star.

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians can afford to eat less because they are either overeating or wasting food, throwing away up to 930 tonnes of unconsumed food daily, say experts.
This is equivalent to us throwing away 93,000 10kg bags of rice each day.
The experts warn that people must change or adapt their eating habits in the light of rising prices and a looming food shortage, adding that the country was already experiencing a food crisis.
Universiti Malaya Prof Dr P. Agamuthu said wastage was a growing trend, adding that almost 50% of the 31,000 tonnes of waste produced daily by Malaysians comprised organic kitchen waste such as leftover food.
“Malaysians discard about 930 tonnes of unconsumed food daily. Wastage of unconsumed food alone in Malaysia has doubled over the past three years. This does not even include leftover food,” he said, adding that the unconsumed food mostly consisted of expired bread, eggs and old or rotten fruit.

Sunday's special

My son is working late today, and don't feel like eating out. So today we are eating out of the can again.
It's mushroom soup with hotdog.(I know I am a bit crazy when it comes to cooking) ,steam hotdog and crab stick and goes with french toast. My son just loved mushroom so I make sure there is more of that.
So that was our dinner.. another meal taken care of. My bloger friend Hayley says " Simple but made with love, surely taste good!" no wonder my son doent complain.

MY MAIDEN PHOTO SHOOT TRIP

Had a great outing last sunday with the fun gang or the confius group , as they prefered to be called. Thanks to my friend Jason Oh for inviting me. I was first attracted to his photo with all the beautiful model and self invite myself for the next photo shoot and true to his word he kept me in the loop and so , I was able to experience first hand what it was like out there.Equally enjoyable was the food and of course good company of friends (old and new) I have never met such a warm and friendly bunch, they made you right at home and being one of the gangs. Thanks guys, and am so looking forward to our next outting.
Earlier I have suggested two new models and everthing seems set and we (jason and I)even had a meeting with one of the girl. Jason wanted to get to know the model first prior to the shooting, so that they will not be so tense on the actual day. We were looking forward to the outting when they (the new models) deceided to pull out. I thought I had a card in my sleeve, and wanted to bring my darling daugther to fill in, but even she could not make it at the eleventh hour due to circumstances. At that moment I felt so disappointed and betrayed and wondered why everyone around me seems to disppoint me.Now thinking back I guess I was a bit unfair to them. They all have valid reasons. Perhaps another time girls? Good thing Jason had back up plan.(plan B as tiger would say)and thus save the day.
Here are some of my shots.Still got a lot of catching up to do and lots of learning I know, but I got good teachers who are willing to impart their knowledge. I am so ever grateful.

LUNCH AT INDIAN RESTAURANT

Just had a wonderful indian rice at a restaurant in west port. A meal is not complete without the
rasam I understand there are a variety of rasam, but the restaurant only serve one type.(what do you expect it's on the house) you can get the receipe here.
Today being a Friday they serve
free payasam which is vermicelli boiled with milk and sweetened with sugar. It goes by the name of 'pal payasam', just delicious. would you believe it? I once got a receipt from the daughter of an ex colleague and even tried making it myself. unfortunately none of my family members shared my love for this wonderful desert.
If you have not try this desert before try it, you will loved it.
