BODY COMBAT FOR CHARITY

I have always loved Body combat ever since I first joined a class about 7 years ago. I don't think this is the first  Body combat event for charity. However this is the first time it was done for furry friends. I might be wrong. Anyway I will be joining this event happening on 13
th march,2016. Some  of the body combat instructors I know will be taking part.
More details on the event on facebook here and here  For those body combat members there will be a special price. So hurry up and sign up and support. I remember years ago there was a charity drive for an animal shelter at camp5. It was a rock climbing event.  Wonder if there will be one again this year, as I enjoyed rock climbing just as much as body combat. I will definately support if there is one.

BODY COMBAT – FIGHTING FIT

This is one gym group excercise I loved.

There are so many different types and ways of working out that even those who are averse to exercising (if they make the effort) will likely find something they’d enjoy.
If conventional exercises like running on the treadmill or weight-lifting is not for you, then why not try something a little different?
Body Combat is one such workout that will take you away from the humdrum of the usual. And not only that, you’ll leave the class feeling fierce!
WHAT'S BODY COMBAT?
As the name suggests, this workout is martial-arts inspired and incorporates many of the movements of martial arts – karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai. This is a fiercely energetic class so don’t expect the instructor to go Karate Kid on you in a zen atmosphere; the classes are usually conducted along with pumping music so you’ll have a rocking time while kicking some imaginary butt!
WHY BODY COMBAT?
Body Combat is known to have a whole host of benefits.
It is an excellent workout for strengthening the core muscles, which in turn improves your posture and stability. You will be maximising calorie burn while you punch and kick your way through this cardio workout which incidentally, also makes you feel like you can take on the world - “You want a piece of me??”
Body Combat also improves heart and lung function, reduces the risks of heart disease, improves bone density, and tones and shapes key muscle groups. And if you’ve always wanted to work on your coordination and agility, then this workout may just be what you’ve been looking for.
CAN I DO IT?
Body Combat is no walk in the park but before you dismiss it, rest assured that classes are usually conducted with various fitness levels in mind. So whether you’re at beginner, intermediate or expert level, you should be able to find a class to suit your needs. And working out in a group usually brings out one’s competitive spirit so you would be more inclined to push yourself further.
On a more personal note, let me just say that I have tried Body Combat and it truly is an amazing workout. Did I feel like a martial arts expert? Hell no. Did I find it hard to keep up with the class? Well, like me, you may find some movements easier than others, for example punching may be a breeze but kicking difficult. It’s okay though, if you need to take a break, you just do and then rejoin the class when you’ve caught your breath. Yes, there were times when I did feel a little like an uncoordinated klutz but take comfort in the fact that everyone else around you is too engrossed in their workout to pay any attention to you.
All in all, it’s a very satisfying workout where you finish a class feeling accomplished and ready to take on the world! So give Body Combat a try if you’re on the lookout to add something new to your workout regime. And you’ll walk out of class feeling like a (sweaty) million bucks.

SAYING GOODBYE AINT EASY

Last Friday marked the last day of her body combat class. Since the gym at Klang caught fire, her wednesday class was cancelled. So the only way was to go to another gym at puchong to catch her.
She had been with us for two years plus and we had all grown very fond of her. She is more than an instructor or friend to us. She is family. Thanks Irene, you will always be our best sifu.Hope to catch you again sometimes in the future

a farewell gift to show our appreciation

.Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine

Quiet thought come floating down
And settle softly to the ground
Like golden autumn leaves around my feet
I touched them and they burst apart with sweet memories,
Sweet memories

Of holding hands and red bouquets
And twilight trimmed in purple haze
And laughing eyes and simple ways
And quiet nights and gentle days with you

Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind
Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine,
Memories, memories, sweet memorie

This song from Elvis goes out to her:-

KEEPING MALAYSIA FIT

I had signed up the event fit malaysia, which was organised by Fit Malaysia because one of the event highlighted was Body combat , my favourited group cardio mix martial arts inspired exercise. The event was launched by the youth & sports minister Yb Khairy Jamaluddin. In his speech, he hoped that with the various activities and sport, more Malaysian will embrace a healthy life st.yle. Fit Malaysia is his brainchild. You can read about it's belief and vision in their web page. Since it was also the first sunday of the month, which has been set aside as car free day, I deceide to take the commuter from Klang to Kuala Lumpur and then the Lrt once I reach the main train station. It has been such a long while since I took this public transport. It might be an embracement, I had to ask a foreigner where was the Lrt station. I was suppose to go with another gym member, but at the last minute she told me she could not go, because her mum does not allow her to go. What? in this century an adult and a working adult at that can be control like that?  If it was cinderella, I could understand, but she was not a step child to her mother. Oh well, I would not invite her to any more event that's for sure, knowing how it would turn out eventually. Anyway I had a great time at the Body combat workout. I could see alot of them were first timer and non body combaters as they tend to get so close, that was hardly any space for me to kick.
Here are some of the photos taken with my handphone. I did not bring my camera, for fear of being stollen, as it was a public and open space event, unlike a club where there is a locker to store it away.

FITSCORE MOB BODY COMBAT

Just had the most exciting event. Nearly 2000 people attended this event which was billed as the biggest Body combat event in Malaysia. It made it to the Malaysian books of record. Met some of my hiking friends there as well. I am glad I could attended this big event. This is one of the few things I wanted to do before I turned 60 this oct. The other event I will be looking forward will be the rebooke    challenge which will be held in september. A few weeks ago I went for the Brooke challenge, just to have an insight what it was all about and to prepare myself mentally for the coming events.
